Workshops - What Next? after Cancer
Studies show there is a definite "cancer personality type" - someone who tends to put other people's needs before their own. Part of the recovery process, after cancer, is therefore to learn how to address your own needs, without feeling that you are being selfish or letting other people down.
Once the treatments have finished, the hair has grown back, and you look like your old self again, those around you may expect that you'll go back to life as normal. However, although you may look the same (apart from the curly hair!), inside something has changed. Maybe you don't want to go back to "life as normal". Maybe you want a change. Maybe you're feeling that you've been given a second chance at life, and you want to make the most of it.
What are you filling your space with?
According to Human Behavioral Specialist Dr John DeMartini, we fill our space with the things that are important to us. What are you currently filling your space with?
After a lifetime of putting other people first, it's time to learn to prioritise better, and to recognise that your needs are as valid as everyone else's. First of all, you need to learn to nurture yourself, to care for and about yourself. All the fancy clothes and status symbols in the world can't compensate for not feeling good about yourself inside. The reason you put yourself last is because you don't value yourself enough. Once you start to value yourself, your confidence levels will soar.
By building your confidence and your self-esteem, identifying what's really important in life, and being true to your authentic self, you will learn to establish your priorities in life and become more assertive about what you want and need.
Start as you mean to go on...
